Ajay Devgn is all ready to showcase the story of Tanhaji Malusare in his keenly awaited film Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior (2020). While giving interviews for the film, the actor-producer revealed that he will continue the unsung warrior series after this film.
Devgn said that he took the decision after he learnt about Malusare's sacrifice. “That’s when I decided to start a series on unsung warriors,” he said. “There are so many such warriors who have died for the country, given great sacrifices, given great stories and have only become local heroes. Tanhaji is only known in Maharashtra. Everybody knows Shivaji Maharaj. But he [Tanhaji] did so much for the country, but nobody knows about it in the north.”
The film tells the story of the battle of Sinhagad where Tanhaji, under the orders of Shivaji, captures the Kondhana fort to ensure that the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb doesn’t spread his kingdom towards southern India. The battle to capture Kondhana takes place between Tanhaji and Udaybhan Rathod, played by Saif Ali Khan, who fought for the Mughals.
Explaining his plan after the film, Devgn added, “So, after this movie [I will tell the story of] somebody else from some other state wherein the person did so much, but is not known in the entire country. On whom the next film will be made we will see.”
Directed by Om Raut, Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior will be releasing on 10 January 2020.
