Chunky Pandey is the latest actor from mainstream Hindi cinema to enter Marathi cinema. He will be making his debut in the language in director Sameer Patil’s Vikun Taak (2020).

In an official statement, the actor said that working in a Marathi film was always in his wish list. "I have worked [in] Bengali and Telugu films,” he said. “But ever since I started acting, I had this wish of doing a Marathi film and this wish increased after watching some Marathi films of recent years."

Speaking on the reason for signing Vikun Taak, Pandey said, “I was in search of a good script. When I was offered Vikun Taak, I had no reason to refuse the film. I really liked the subject of the film. It deals with the important issues related to the rural areas and it will make the audience realize the importance of thinking about these issues.”

The film is produced by Uttung Hitendra Thakur of Balak Palak (2013) and Yellow (2014) fame. Director Patil is known for making the comedy Poshter Boyz (2014). Pandey went on to say that the producer and director’s past record also urged him to sign Vikun Taak.

The actor added that the language wasn’t a challenge for him. “I didn’t face trouble while speaking in Marathi since I am born and brought up in Mumbai. I like the language and the humour brought out in this language cannot be compared with any other language. I am excited to make my Marathi film debut with Vikun Taak,” he said.

The makers have revealed the poster of the film where Pandey is dressed up as an Arab character. He is seen holding onto actors Shivraj Waichal and Rohit Mane while holding a bunch of currency.
