Ishq fame Shane Nigaam, who is currently caught up in a row with the Association of Malayalam Movie Actors, has landed a key role in actor Vikram’s upcoming Tamil film.
Amid allegations that Shane has not been turning up for the shoots of his Malayalam films Veyil and Qurbani, the actor has been roped in for a pivotal role in Vikram’s next.
Rumoured to be titled Amar, the film, being directed by Ajay Gnanamuthu, stars Vikram in multiple avatars. Priya Bhavani Shankar plays the leading lady.
The project, which marks the third-time union of Vikram and composer AR Rahman after Raavanan (2010) and I (2015), was officially announced in May and is currently dubbed Chiyaan Vikram 58. Former India pacer Irrfan Pathan plays the antagonist in this project, his acting debut.
Being produced by 7 Screen Studio in association with Viacom18, the project went on the floors in August and the makers plan to release it in April 2020.
“This film will be a pan-India project catering to the Tamil, Hindi and Telugu audience," said a statement from the makers. "It will be produced on a massive scale in association with Viacom18 Motion Pictures. The cast and technicians will have big names of all industries collaborating for this film.”
The project marks the maiden collaboration of Vikram and Ajay, who is best known for helming Demonte Colony (2015) and last year’s Imaikka Nodigal (2018) starring Nayanthara.
Talking about the project, Ajay had told The Times of India newspaper: “The only thing I can divulge right now is that Vikram’s role will be a challenging one. Of course, he has always taken up challenging roles, but I think this one will be better than all of those.”
