Badminton courts of Malina, Czech Republic created in Vasai for Saina Nehwal biopic

Director Amole Gupte is all praise for his production designers Amit Ray and Subrata Chakravorty.

Amole Gupte’s much talked about biopic on Indian badminton star Saina Nehwal is currently filming in Mumbai. As Nehwal is an international player, the film will naturall show her playing around the world. Titled Saina (2020), the film will see Parineeti Chopra essay the central character while Manav Kaul will play her coach

Hence, the makers have created badminton courts of various countries on the outskirts of the city in Vasai, on the outskirts of Mumbai. “We have already completed over five court designs. Each court represents a different match,” said Gupte in an official statement. 

The filmmaker is all praise for his production designers Amit Ray and Subrata Chakravorty, who have earlier worked in films like Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat (2018) and the Akshay Kumar-starrer Kesari (2019). "

"Amit and Subrata are my dearest friends and have worked with me on Hawaa Hawaai (2014) and Sniff (2017),” added Gupta. “Their experience and wisdom helped widen the vision of Saina. They have created international looking stadiums. The task is difficult to achieve in a limited time but Amit’s team, especially his art director Bala Patil, have been amazing.”

He also added that the last schedule of the film will take place in January 2020. 

While speaking about the efforts of the people involved in creating the sets, Ray said, “Over a hundred people worked 24/7. Now, we are shooting each match for a couple of days and then working overnight to turn the look around for the next one. It’s like an ant’s colony at work.”
