Indrasis Acharya to start shooting for Maya Bhoy in February 2020

Featuring Anuradha Mukherjee, Tota Roy Chowdhury, Rahul Banerjee and Aparajita Ghosh Das, Maya Bhoy will attempt to explore how the disturbing surroundings affect psychological growth and eventually create hurdles in building relationships.

Indrasis Acharya’s upcoming film Maya Bhoy is loosely based on eminent author Sanjib Chattopadhyay’s story Bhoy will begin filming in February 2020. Featuring Anuradha Mukherjee, Tota Roy Chowdhury, Rahul Banerjee and Aparajita Ghosh Das, Maya Bhoy will attempt to explore how the disturbing surroundings affect psychological growth and eventually create hurdles in building relationships.

In the film, protagonist Dipa (Mukherjee) grows up in a dysfunctional family, with selfish kin around her. As her mother passes away, she finds refuge in her maternal uncle (Roy Chowdhury)’s place. While her doctor uncle and his family showers her with affection, Dipa finds it difficult to adapt herself into a secure atmosphere. Not so familiar with genuine care and love, Dipa cannot make friendships.

Banerjee plays Dipa’s love interest in the film, which also explores the significance and value of love in an age, where ambition often takes the front seat. On the other hand, Acharya is also of the opinion that now people are much more open towards relationships and they do not hesitate going out of it they do not want to compromise on their priorities. Maya Bhoy will reportedly focus on these contradictions while narrating the journey of Dipa.

“It's again a very deeply psychological movie with layers of human emotions that I will try to explore. No one in my movies has a straight-jacket personality, just like we don't have a straight unidimensional personality in real life. We are all shades of greys," said the maker of critically acclaimed films Biloo Rakkhosh, Pupa and Parcel, in an interview with the newspaper Indian Express.

Acharya recently won the award for the Best Director at Kolkata International Film Festival in November for Parcel, featuring Rituparna Sengupta and Saswata Chatterjee in the leads.
