With Hindi cinema already touching taboo subjects through comedy, Marathi cinema is now following suit. Aatpadi Nights (2019) captures the taboo subject of nervousness to perform sexually with this quirky comedy featuring Sayali Sanjeev and Pranav Raorane. The film is written and directed by Nitin Supekar.
The trailer begins with Vasant Khatmode (Pranav Raorane) preparing to get married to Sayali Sanjeev's character. With the promise of a long-awaited wedding to be fulfilled, the young man decides to check with an astrologer about the future. Except, there is a little trouble up ahead due to his lack of vigour.
The trailer is a mix of comic interludes and some fairly interesting moments that add to the quirky tale. Raorane looks the part as the eager country bumpkin facing a girl who is a lot smarter than he had anticipated.
Throw Subodh Bhave into the mix and you have an actor to get the loftier emotions into play. The actor makes a short appearance in the trailer as he explains that the problem is not elsewhere, but in the head.
Atpadi Nights is set to release in theatres on 27 December 2019. Watch the trailer below and let us know if you are keen to watch the film.
