The Salman Khan-led Dabangg 3 finished its opening day with an all-India collection of Rs22.50 crore nett approximately, according to BoxOfficeIndia.com. The comparatively low collections are largely on account of the raging protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act across the country. With several theatres shut across the country, the film's collection has been low for a Salman-starrer though it was still better than some experts had feared.
According to figures from the website, the film bettered the first-day collections of Kesari (2019), Kabir Singh (2019), Housefull 4 (2019) and Total Dhamaal (2019).
The protests are likely to limit the film's growth in the northern and western sectors, partly also because Muslims, a substantial portion of Salman Khan's fan base, are at the forefront of the protests. The film needs to show good growth on Saturday and Sunday to ensure a successful opening weekend.
While the film does have a lower cost of production than a Race 3 (2018), and Bharat (2019), it would still need a surge in the week to ensure a better hold.
The film finished fifth in terms of opening-day collections in 2019. The list is headed by War, which earned Rs50.61 crore nett. Bharat and Mission Mangal follow with Rs41.62 crore nett and Rs28.45 crore nett, respectively.
Dabangg 3 finishes below the Hindi version of Saaho (Rs25.82 crore) with Rs22.50 crore approximately.
