Box office: Mardaani 2 holds strong over the week with Rs28 crore

Rani Mukerji-led Mardaani 2 enjoyed a decent first week with Rs28 crore nett collections at the counters. According to figures from BoxOfficeIndia.com, the film has improved on the first week collections of Mardaani (2014) which stood at Rs23 crore nett.
The film began on Friday with Rs3.75 crore nett, but continued to grow over Saturday and Sunday with Rs6.50 crore and Rs7.75 crore respectively.
However, the week saw an immediate drop in collections. BoxOfficeIndia.com reported that the film earned Rs9.85 nett crore between Monday to Thursday. The decline in collection could also be connected with the protests taking place across India, which might have reduced footfalls in major centres of the north, and regional centres. With Dabangg 3 (2019), starring Salman Khan, hitting theatres this Friday, the film might see a further drop in collections.
The Body (2019), starring Emraan Hashmi and Rishi Kapoor, managed a meagre Rs3 crore nett approximate, while Mudda 370 (2019). starring Hiten Tejwani and Anjali Pandey, tanked at the box office with a collection amounting in lakhs.
