Rajinikanth starts shooting in Hyderabad for his next film

Currently dubbed Thalaivar 168, the project marks the maiden collaboration of Rajinikanth and director Siva, best known for helming Veeram (2014) and Viswasam (2019).

Superstar Rajinikanth on Wednesday began shooting for his new untitled Tamil film in Hyderabad. Composer D Imman took to Twitter to share a picture from the sets, confirming that the shooting has begun with a song.

“Met the man of simplicity, our dear Rajinikanth sir, on the first day of shoot today which had commenced with a song. His positive words about the song were so encouraging. What an aura! What an energy this man spills to the world around him! Breathtaking,” Imman tweeted.

Currently dubbed Thalaivar 168, the project marks the maiden collaboration of Rajinikanth and director Siva, best known for helming the Ajith blockbusters Veeram (2014) and Viswasam (2019).

The project, being bankrolled by Sun Pictures, also stars Keerthy Suresh, Meena and Kushboo in key roles. The film was officially launched last week in Chennai at a low-key affair.

The film has already been confirmed as a Diwali 2020 release. The makers are yet to reveal the rest of the cast and crew.

Meanwhile, Rajinikanth is currently awaiting the release of Darbar (2020), which has been directed by AR Murugadoss. The film, which also stars Nayanthara, sees the veteran return in the role of a police officer after 25 years.

Reports have emerged that Rajinikanth and Murugadoss might reunite for another project next year. Apparently, Murugadoss pitched another story idea to the superstar while shooting for Darbar, and Rajinikanth is said to have already given his nod.

However, there is no official confirmation or announcement on whether Rajinikanth and Murugadoss are teaming up for the second time.
