Jai Mummy Di song 'Mummy Nu Pasand': Tanishk Bagchi adds an unwelcome electronic edge to Sunanda Sharma's vocals

It's been a long year for remixes this year and with 2019 about to end, one more sneaks in. Tanishk Bagchi takes Sunanda Sharma's popular dance number 'Jaani Tera Naa' and amps it for the romantic comedy Jai Mummy Di (2020) which features Supriya Pathak and Poonam Dhillon as frenemies Laali and Pinky respectively.
However, for this number, the focus in on their respective kids, Puneet and Saanjh played by Sunny Singh and Sonnalli Seygall. Their romances flourishes, despite their mothers' disapproval, as the lyrics by Jaani rightly point out.
Sunanda Sharma contributes her vocals of the filmi version, but her original fares better. Bagchi has added his flair by increasing the number of electronic beats and speeding up the track for the film soundtrack.
The problem is that 'Jaani Tera Naa (Mummy Nu Pasand)' already features enough electronic tweaks and beats, and with Bagchi amping it further in 'Mummy Nu Pasand', the song just sounds more robotic diluting its Punjabi essence.
The original track is infectiously catchy and for those who don't know it is recreated, it'll be a new experience. And that will be good enough for the music company.
Jai Mummy Di, written and directed by Navjot Gulati, is due to be released on 10 January 2020. Watch the film song and the original below and let us know if you would be keen to watch the film.
