Hansal Mehta's web-series on the momentous scam of 1992 has finally found its lead cast. The series will feature Gujarati actor Pratik Gandhi and Shreya Dhanwantary in the leads, alongside Satish Kaushik, Anant Mahadevan and Rajat Kapoor among others.

The series will pursue the story of how Harshad Mehta crafted one of the most infamous crime in the stock broking markets. Produced by Applause Entertainment and Studio Next, the series will be helmed by Hansal Mehta. It hasn't been announced which digital platform Scam 1992 will be available on.

Speaking to the daily Mumbai Mirror, Mehta said, "I said 'yes' to the project as soon as Sameer [Nair] told me that Applause had bought the rights of the book. Growing up in the 1980s and 1990s, we all knew Harshad as a fascinating, larger-than-life character, and I am happy to be able to tell his story."

The report also quoted Gandhi, who was discovered by casting director Mukesh Chhabra and Mehta, as saying, "It is a wonderful opportunity to be working with an amazing team at Applause and a creative maestro like Hansal Mehta. The audience will have a great time figuring out if the real Harshad Mehta was a hero or a villain."
