The revelation was made early on Tuesday, 17 December, with a picture of Siddhant Chaturvedi and Sharvari Wagh, released by the makers.
Chaturvedi hit the big time with his performance as MC Sher in Zoya Akhtar's Gully Boy (2019), and Wagh will make her debut with the film. She will be seen in Amazon Prime's web-series, The Forgotten Army, with Sunny Kaushal in 2020.
A press release from the production house quoted first-time director Varun Sharma saying, "Bunty Aur Babli 2 is completely set in today’s time. Siddhant caught everyone’s eye with his brilliant acting debut in Gully Boy and became the heart-throb of the nation. We are very excited to have him play the role of Bunty. He is a superb actor, is extremely charming and he fits the role perfectly."
"Sharvari is an extremely special actress to watch out for. She is a powerful performer and you have to watch her on-screen to understand what we mean. Given the film and the roles, they are definitely the perfect casting. They are a fresh, hot pair and their chemistry and energy is infectious," he added.
Wagh and Chaturvedi will be the latest pair of newcomers being given the break by Yash Raj Films who also launched Parineeti Chopra and Arjun Kapoor, and Ranveer Singh and Anushka Sharma among others.
It is not yet known if the film will feature Rani Mukerji and Abhishek Bachchan in a special appearance. The 2005 film, directed by Shaad Ali, proved to be a surprise hit, including the soundtrack by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy.
Bunty Aur Babli 2 will begin filming later in 2020.
