After tales of Bombay, the city of dreams, and stories of lust in the past two anthology films, filmmakers Karan Johar, Anurag Kashyap, Zoya Akhtar and Dibakar Banerjee have turned to monsters and the supernatural for their latest project Ghost Stories (2020).

The trailer for the upcoming Netflix original unveils a bit more about the scary stories Johar, Kashyap, Akhtar and Baneerjee have directed for their third anthology series. Johar's short includes a newly-wedded couple (Avinash Tiwary and Mrunal Thakur) whose wedding night is interupted by Granny, who only the groom can see. It drives the new bride to the point of madness.

Kashyap's short seems more stylized, and is in black and white. Sobhita Dhulipala plays a pregnant woman who is watched carefully by her worried nephew. She imagines or finds herself turning into a bird at some point. Meanwhile, Janhvi Kapoor is a nurse, Sameera, in Akhtar's short film, taking care of Surekha Sikri's character. However, there is an unknown person or thing that lurks in the house that seems to terrify Sameera.

Finally Banerjee's short features a world inhabited by some monster that devours humans. The orphaned children evade it by making no noise and staying in the dark. Each short films finds their lead characters suitably spooked.

Ghost Stories will be streaming on midnight, 1 January 2020 on Netflix. Watch the trailer below and let us know if you are keen to watch the film.
