Yesteryear star actress Moushumi Chatterjee’s daughter Payal Dicky Sinha died today in Mumbai. Payal had been in a coma since April 2017 when she was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes.

Chatterjee and her husband, actor Jayanta Mukherjee, were fighting a legal battle against their son-in-law Dicky Sinha for Payal’s custody since last year.

The couple had approached the Bombay high court in November last year, accusing Sinha of lapses in Payal's treatment and care.

According to the parents, Sinha had stopped Payal's physiotherapy sessions, stopped paying the nurses hired to look after her, and also not changed her diet despite instructions from the doctors.

Chatterjee and Mukherjee had also accused Sinha of not letting them meet Payal and refusing to share her medical papers, which prevented them from knowing her health status.

However, the high court had disposed of the plea filed by Chatterjee and Mukherjee for Payal’s custody. In reply to their application, Sinha had filed an affidavit saying Payal’s parents were sharing "false and misleading" information about him.

Sinha is a businessman. He and Payal had married in 2010. Mukherjee, Payal and Sinha had started a business venture together in 2011 called Tethys Business and Projects Private Limited. However, in 2016, relations between the families soured after a business dispute.
