Comedian and actor Karthik Kumar makes his directorial debut with a comedy featuring an ensemble cast of Bhagyaraj, Ambika, Manobala, Chinni Jayanth, Pandiarajan, Kavithalaya Krishnan, Amjad, Amrutha Srinivasan and Jaya Chandran.
After the critically acclaimed KD (2019), directed by Madhumita Sundararaman, this untitled production is Yoodlee Films' second foray into Tamil cinema.
The first schedule of the film has just been completed and the second is expected to take place in January in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
The comic caper will explore the tender relationship between a grandfather and his grandson. Widower Ganeshan, dealing with his wife's recent death, can't connect with grandson Aadith who is obsessed with superheroes.
Ganeshan's friends join him in pretending to be superheroes to gain favour with Aadith. But when things get out of hand, the group is entangled in an incident they can't control. Ganeshan then has to prove to himself and to the world that he does have superpowers.
Karthik, who has toured the world with his stand-up act, said, "The film is about discovering the superhero inside all of us. When you thought it was time to retire the old heroes, it was time to bring them back as superheroes. To have such a host of immensely talented actors in the same film is humbling and a privilege for a first-time director."
Producer Siddharth Anand Kumar of Yoodlee Films said, "The appreciation we received for KD from all around is heartening and we are going full steam ahead with our next Tamil production.
"Good stories backed with great talent has always been our calling card at Yoodlee. We are excited to bring such acting stalwarts of Tamil cinema in one film, and to back our director Karthik’s vision."
