Mahesh Bhatt's return to direction with Sadak 2 has led to yet another venture for the writer-director. Bhatt is now entering the digital medium with a new series based on the life of a 1970s filmmaker and his actress muse.
The director made the announcement early on Wednesday on social media.

While there is no clarification on the role Bhatt will play in the series, writer, producer or director, he has revealed that the story will follow a familiar pattern.
The director has followed a similar storyline in the semi-autobiographical Arth (1982). That film, featuring Shabana Azmi, Smita Patil and Kulbhushan Kharbanda, revolved around the life of a famed director and his affair with an actress. It won for Azmi the Filmfare and National awards for Best Actress.
Similarly, Bhatt's production Woh Lamhe... (2006) also followed the story of an actress's struggle with schizophrenia and her relationship with her mentor. The film was reportedly based on Bhatt's own relationship with the late Parveen Babi.
Bhatt is currently working on the sequel to his hit Sadak (1991). Sadak 2 features his daughter Alia in the lead.
Jio Cinemas has not yet confirmed any details about the cast or storyline of the digital series.
