Rinku Rajguru promises to be rebellious in Makeup: Watch teaser

The word 'makeup' has an interesting metaphor in the Ganesh Pandit-directorial.

Rinku Rajguru emerged as the stronger of the two main leads in her debut film Sairat (2016). She was seen playing a powerful main lead even in her second film Kaagar (2019). Her next movie Makeup (2020) will also see her play the titular character.

Considering not too many Marathi actresses have starred in female-centric films, Rajguru's feat, accomplished in her first three films itself, is quite an achievement.

Going by the teaser, the title of Makeup acquires a different meaning in the context of the Ganesh Pandit film. The film is about a girl (Rajguru) who pretends to be simple, shy and introverted with her family. But her real self is seen with her friends with whom she is outgoing and modern in terms of her language, attire, behaviour, and attitude. Hence, the word ‘makeup’ is a metaphor for her behaviour at home.

The teaser of Makeup is enough for us to have hopes from the film. Along with being a light-hearted entertainer, it also seems to be making an important statement on patriarchy and gender roles. The film also stars Chinmay Udgirkar and Prateeksha Lonkar.

Makeup is the directorial debut for Pandit. He has been a writer in a long list of films before this one.

Makeup is due to be released on 7 February 2020. Watch the teaser and let us know if you would be watching the film:
