The Jayalalithaa biopic starring Kangana Ranaut as the late actress-turned-Tamil Nadu chief minister might see the return of Arvind Swamy to the Hindi film industry.
Unconfirmed reports suggest the actor is in talks to play the role of the late MG Ramachandran, also a film star-turned-chief minister and the mentor of J Jayalalithaa in cinema and in politics.
Arvind Swamy was part of the Tamil version of the Disney live action film, The Lion King (2019). He voiced the character of Scar.
According to a report on the website Newsminute.com, industry insiders have suggested that the actor has signed on for the project being helmed by AL Vijay.
In addition to Arvind Swamy, the report suggested that actors like Jagapathi Babu, Sathyaraj, and Jayasudha will play crucial roles in the biopic.
The film, with Ranaut as the former chief minister of Tamil Nadu, will see a multi-lingual release in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu, most probably in 2020.
Speaking about the project in April this year, director Vijay had said, ""As a leader, Jayalalithaa was never confined to one region. She was popular on the national level and even outside Tamil Nadu people knew who she was. Therefore, it made sense to cast someone who has a pan-India market. It had to be one of the biggest stars. Therefore, we opted for Kangana and she was really excited when we approached her."
GV Prakash is composing the music for the film which is expected to go on the floors later this year.
