Ajay Devgn and Abhishek Bachchan are set to reunite in a film seven years after Bol Bachchan (2012), although not as co-stars. As per a report in the tabloid Mumbai Mirror, Abhishek Bachchan is likely to play the lead in a film produced by Devgn, and directed by Kookie Gulati.

Ileana D’Cruz will also star in the film but has not been paired opposite Bachchan. The film is a period saga that revolves around the financial developments in India.

“It is based on real events that took place between 1990 and 2000 and changed India’s financial fabric. Ajay loved the subject and immediately agreed to back it. Ileana has a very strong role in the film but isn’t paired opposite Abhishek. The team is on the lookout for an actress to be paired with him. The film will go on the floors by the year-end,” said a source to the publication.

The film will be Gulati’s first directorial venture since Prince (2010), which was an action saga starring Vivek Anand Oberoi and Aruna Shields. He was the creative director in this year’s hit, Total Dhamaal (2019), which also starred Devgn. Gulati has also been an associate director in well-known films like Ishk Vishk (2003) and Fida (2004).

Devgn and Bachchan have earlier worked together in Zameen (2003) and Bol Bachchan (2012), directed by Rohit Shetty.
