After a poor first weekend, the Sonakshi Sinha-starrer Khandaani Shafakhana (2019) was expected to have a deep fall on its first Monday. This is what exactly has happened with the Shilpi Dasgupta film as it made just Rs35 lakh yesterday.
Khandaani Shafakhana opened to a mere Rs75 lakh. The absence of hype and negative reviews ensured that the film didn’t have a major jump after that and finished the weekend with Rs2.85 crore.
As per our trade sources, the film is made at a budget of Rs20 to Rs25 crore. It’s grand total right now stands at a dismal Rs3.20 crore. There is no way the film will reaching its making cost.
This week will see the release of Sidharth Malhotra and Parineeti Chopra-starrer Jabariya Jodi (2019). The film isn’t expected to rake in big numbers but that will hardly matter to Khandaani Shafakhana.
Meanwhile, the Hollywood action film, Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw, also had a fall in numbers on its first Monday. Starring Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham, the film earned Rs5 crore yesterday, which is Rs6 crore less than its opening number of Rs11 crore. The film’s overall numbers in India stands at Rs42 crore.
