Actress Darshana Banik is all set to make her debut in Hindi film Ezra, directed by Jay Krishnan, starring Emraan Hashmi in the lead. Banik has previously worked in the Bengali films Ashche Abar Shobor (2018), Aami Ashbo Phirey (2018), Mukhomukhi (2019) and the Telugu film Aatagallu (2018).
Ezra is a remake of a Malayalam film of the similar title. The supernatural thriller Ezra will also feature Imaad Shah and Manav Kaul in important roles.
In an interview with the newspaper Sangbad Biswa Bangla, Banik said that she was called for an audition in Mumbai after the director came across her photos on social media platforms. She got selected for the film after three look tests.
Though the actress is yet to disclose anything about her character in the film, she revealed that she completed filming her first schedule in Mauritius.
In the original film, the female protagonist purchases an antique box and henceforth, the couple begins to face paranormal incidents.
Banik will be sharing screen space with both Hashmi and Shah in the film. The actress shared that she found Hashmi to be a calm and collected person on the sets. “I have been watching him since my childhood. Working with him is a great achievement for me," the actress added.
The rest of the film is slated to be filmed in Mumbai. Ezra is due to be released in 2020.
