Koel Mallick, Vinay Pathak wrap up shooting for Arindam Sil's Mitin Mashi

The detective film is due to be released this Pujo in October.

The shooting of Arindam Sil’s latest venture Mitin Mashi, starring Koel Mallick in the lead, was wrapped on 5 August. The lead actress announced the wrap up in a tweet, and called the shoot, an awesome experience to cherish and thanked Sil for being an ‘awesome director’.

Mitin Mashi also happens to be Hindi film actor Vinay Pathak’s first Bengali film.  On 30 July, Camellia Productions shared a video of celebrating the completion of Pathak’s schedule and his belated birthday, through cutting a cake, on Twitter.

While Mallick will be seen enacting the female detective Mitin Mashi, a character originally created by the late novelist Suchitra Bhattacharya, Pathak has essayed the role of Rustam ji, a Parsi businessman in the film.

Though, Pathak has another Bengali project in store, Mitin Mashi is going to release before it. Therefore, Pathak is happy to call it is debut venture. In an interview with Ei Samay, a supplement of newspaper Times of India, Pathak said that he previously warned Sil for the impending challenges of working with him, but the latter proved to be stubborn on his decision.

However, Pathak admitted that the script appealed to him to a great deal and the screenplay reportedly reminded him of Feluda films.

Mallick, on the other hand, while sharing her experience of enacting a detective for the first time, told the same publication, "Mitin is extremely confident. She can hide herself among many, and at the same time, she can also turn into the spotlight when needed. She knows how to balance her traits.”

Mallick also said that for the requirement of the film, her character has also been given multiple layers. “Mitin Mashi has a different charm. Generally, private detectives have a distinct demeanour, but Mitin is investigating and simultaneously enjoying cooking at home, creating a fusion of recipes. She is an expert at multi-tasking like many working women, who also manage their household with great finesse," the actress added.
