Andarkahini appeals for crowdfunding through Wishberry for its theatrical release

Arnab Middya’s film Andarkahini, featuring Priyanka Sarkar in the lead, has raised an appeal for crowdfunding through Wishberry for its theatrical release. The film has been screened at 47 film festivals in and outside the country, so far, and they have bagged 36 awards altogether.

Made in 2017, Andarkahini narrates the story of four female characters, all played by Sarkar herself. The narratives explore the intimate equations of the four different female characters with their father, brother, female friend and husband respectively.

Since the film attempts to highlight the stories of struggle that women are often subjected to hide within the four walls of their homes, it is titled as Andarkahini. The film also features Saayoni Ghosh, Anindya Chatterjee, and Siddartha Chatterjee in important roles.

The project has been uploaded to the crowdfunding platform, Wishberry and a target for Rs4 lakhs has been set .The contributors need to submit a minimum amount of Rs500. If the contributions do not meet the target amount within 30 days, the entire amount will be returned to the contributors. On the other hand, if the target amount is achieved, the contributors will win some rewards in kind.

“I am extremely thankful to Wishberry for the support. Their main objective is to help release various acclaimed projects that lack required funds. Many Bengali films face similar challenges. I feel if the crowd step forward for the initiative, Andarkahini can show a new way to getting people more involved in Bengali cinema and its prosperity," Middya stated.
