Irandam Ulagaporin Kadaisi Gundu trailer: Dinesh battles societal differences during apocalypse

Produced by Pa Ranjith's Neelam films, Irandam Ulagaporin Kadaisi Gundu is written and directed by Athiyan Athirai.

In the age of dystopian fiction, Pa Ranjith's next production venture delves deeper into the possibilities of impending doom.

The film, ominously titled Irandam Ulagaporin Kadaisi Gundu (Last Bomb of The Second World War) deals with the life and politics around a scrapyard and its workers who discover a leftover bomb from the Second World War. Written and directed by Athiya Athiran, the film features Dinesh, Anandhi, Riythvika, John Vijay among others.

The trailer has too many things happening simultaneously, and all of them interesting. The opening montage shots of bloody footprints, people looking up to the sky, while the whistling sound of a bomb falling precedes the opening sequence.

The narrative running through the trailer follows the pattern of a street theatre troupe telling a story. The story revolves around the workers of a scrapyard, already battling poverty, and a miserly owner, who are the hurdles in their lives.

Their world turns upside down when they discover the presence of an abandoned bomb in the metal yard. Soon, politics, protests, and fear take over the yard and the people involved in it. There is also the sneak peek into the political spectrum that is willing to let people die at the cost of capturing the power the bomb brings.

Dinesh's turn as the man with a conscience trying to avoid this apocalypse is another interesting turn. The actor has been making interesting choices, and this one looks to be out of the left field.

The film is written and directed by Athiya Athiran, and will mark the debut of Tenma of the Casteless Collective as music composer. Irandam Ulagaporin Kadaisi Gundu is also Pa Ranjith's second feature production after Pariyerum Perumal (2018).

The film's release date is yet to be announced.
