Pannu has previously played a hockey player in Soorma (2018), and will be playing a national-level shooting champion in the upcoming Saand Ki Aankh (2019).
Reports suggest that the film will follow the journey of a fictional athlete, Rashmi, an untrained runner from Kutch.
In a statement to the publication DNA, Pannu said,"The story instantly hit the right chord when I heard the idea. It was one of those few films I was waiting to be developed into a film for me to do.
Akarsh Khurana previously directed Karwaan (2018) with Irrfan Khan and Dulquer Salmaan for Ronnie Screwvala's RSVP Films. Rashmi Rocket is expected to begin filming soon.
