Nakkash will be screened at the India International Film Festival of Boston

Director Zaigham Imam’s Nakkash, which stars Inaamulhaq, will be screened at the India International Film Festival of Boston in the United States. According to an official statement, the makers were invited to screen the film by the festival organizers. The screening will be attended by the director and the lead actor.

Following the screening, there will be a question-and-answer session with Professor Thomas Varghese of Harvard University.

Inaamulhaq has been appreciated for his roles in films like Filmistaan (2014), Airlift (2016) and Jolly LLB 2 (2017). 

Nakkash is the story of Allah Rakha Siddiqui, played by Inaamulhaq, who is an engraver of idols in Varanasi's temples. Because of his profession, people from his community look down upon him and his son is refused admission in a madarsa. At the same time the temple priest, played by Kumud Mishra, is under pressure from a section of Hindus not to employ a Muslim craftsman, that too to work on idols.

Speaking about the film and its screening at the film festival, Inaamulhaq said, “Nakkash was tagged as the most essential film of today’s time by most of the critics, and when you say today’s time all know what is happening around us. But when you do something with a sense of responsibility it doesn’t remain within the boundaries of a country. I am glad people around the globe are recognizing our voice towards humanity. You feel validated whenever your hard work is recognized and appreciated.”
