Mission Mangal (2019), based on India’s successful launch of Mars orbiter mission, had a good second weekend at the Indian box office. It has become Akshay Kumar’s second solo hero film to cross the Rs150 crore mark. However, the multi-starrer, directed by Jagan Shakti, also features Vidya Balan, Sonakshi Sinha, and Taapsee Pannu, making it one of the biggest hits of their careers as well.

After showing a slight downward slide in the weekday numbers, Mission Mangal recovered well on Saturday and Sunday as it made Rs12.75 crore and Rs14.75 crore respectively. The grand total of the film right now is exactly Rs150 crore, as per figures shared by BoxOfficeIndia.com.

As per trade sources, Mission Mangal is made at a cost of around Rs100 crore. Hence, it is important for the film to earn a large amount. The only other film of Akshay's to reach Rs150 crore is Kesari (2019), which released earlier this year.

None of the actor's films have reached Rs200 crore film. Mission Mangal’s performance during the weekdays after the second weekend will determine if the film has a chance of scoring a double century.

Meanwhile, the John Abraham-starrer Batla House (2019), which clashed with Mission Mangal on 15 August, fared decently in its second weekend where it made a total of Rs16.25 crore [Rs3.75 crore, Rs5.75 crore and Rs6.75 crore on Friday, Saturday and Sunday respectively].

Directed by Nikkhil Advani, the film has so far made Rs75.75 crore. Its cost of production is around Rs60 crore.
