Kolkata's Ranu Mondal who went viral after singing a Lata Mangeshkar song 'Ik Pyaar Ka Nagma Hai' from Shor (1972) at a railway station has booked her first song as playback singer for Himesh Reshammiya's upcoming film Happy Hardy And Heer (2019). The unknown talent will sing a song titled 'Teri Meri Kahani' for the film starring Reshammiya and Sonia Mann.

The music composer-turned-actor met Mondal when she appeared on the reality show, Superstar Singer, to interact with the contestants and judges. Reshammiya, who is a judge on the show, heard her sing live and offered her the song.

Reshmammiya, in a press release, shared why he was moved to give the newcomer a chance. He said, "Salmanbhai's [superstar Salman Khan's] father Salim uncle once advised me that whenever in life I come across a talented person, I should never let that person go and keep him/her close to me. He advised me to help that person grow his/her talent.

"Today, I met Ranuji and I feel that she is blessed with divinity. Her singing was mesmerizing and I could not stop myself from offering her the best I could. She has a god’s gift which needs to be shared with the world and by singing in my upcoming movie, Happy Hardy And Heer, I think I will help her voice reach everyone. She also learnt the tune on the sets live and she will record the track titled 'Teri Meri Kahaani'. This song is very close to my heart and will be released soon with its video," he added.

Directed by Raka, Happy Hardy And Heer features Reshammiya in a dual role.
