With Mission Mangal, another Akshay Kumar film focusing on patriotism and a national mission has scored a success. Directed by Jagan Shakti, the film's domestic box-office collection has crossed the Rs100 crore nett mark in just five days, as per figures shared by BoxOfficeIndia.com.

After earning an impressive Rs96.50 crore in its four-day extended weekend (the film was released on Independence Day, Thursday), the multi-starrer passed the first Monday test making a decent Rs8.50 crore nett.

Mission Mangal, which also stars Vidya Balan, Taapsee Pannu, Sharman Joshi, Nithya Menen, Sonakshi Sinha, Kirti Kulhari and HG Dattatreya, has so far collected Rs105 crore nett from the domestic box office.

According to our trade sources, the film was made on a budget of around Rs100 crore. With the film expected to continue its good run in the coming days, it appears that Mission Mangal will be a decent success for the producers.

Interestingly, Mission Mangal crossed the lifetime domestic collection of Rs102 crore nett of Akshay Kumar’s previous Independence Day release Gold (2018) in just five days. Akshay Kumar’s previous release Kesari (2019) had reached a lifetime collection figure of Rs151.87 crore, becoming the star's first Rs150 crore film. Mission Mangal is now expected to surpass that number.

Meanwhile, Batla House, the other Independence Day release, has not quite set the cash registers ringing, but it has still earned a decent Rs48 crore nett in the first five days. The budget for the film starring John Abraham and Mrunal Thakur is estimated at Rs60 crore.

No Hindi films are slated for release this week. This should work in favour of both Mission Mangal and Batla House.
