Khichik song ‘Khichik Jhala Pottyane’: Mixture of a tribal song and item number

The song has been composed by Abhishek Dutta and sung by Adarsh Shinde and Shruti Jakati.

The makers of the Marathi movie Khichik have come up with different types of promotional materials. A week after releasing a teenage romantic teaser featuring Prathamesh Parab, a song from the film has been released.

The glimpse of the movie through the earlier posters and teasers give a feeling of it being an urban saga. But the song ‘Khichik Jhala Pottyane’ is a tribal song taking place in the rural areas of Maharashtra. The entire setting needs to be appreciated here for recreating the scenario.

But at the same time, the song also doubles up as an item number in between. Some dance steps by the actress who is performing it and the method of shooting give this idea. The actress has completely gone into the zone and given a convincing performance with a lot of energy.

The end of the song has some story development when Dhakate is surprised to see few kids dancing in the commotion.

Composer Abhishek Dutta has used tunes that go well with for such a song. Singers Adarsh Shinde and Shruti Jakati have moulded their voices to bring the rural or tribal flavour. Datta Gunjal’s lyrics are unconventional and full of tribal lingo.

Khichik also stars Siddharth Jadhav, Prathamesh Parab, Shilpa Thakre, Paula McGlynn and Rasika Chavan. The film marks the Marathi film debut of Hindi film actor Sudesh Berry.

Khichik will be released on 20 September.
