Noted music director Indraadip Dasgupta, who recently won the Jury award at the 66th National awards for his directorial debut Kedara (2019), has announced his second directorial venture Agantuk, featuring Sohini Sarkar and Abir Chatterjee in the lead.
In an interview with The Times of India newspaper, Dasgupta said, “It is a drama in the guise of a thriller. How things unfold after the murder is what the film is all about. Is it a murder or an accident? That is what will form the crux of the film.”
The director elaborated that the film will explore the challenges senior citizens face while their children stay far away and the neighbours also do not care to attend to them. The National award-winner said he would put in his best for honest storytelling and engaging the audience.
In the film, Sarkar will essay the young, middle-aged and old versions of her character. Considering Sarkar a fantastic actress, Dasgupta stated, “I knew she would be able to essay the time leaps in the character. As for Abir, he too is really good. I wanted to work with him.”
The screenplay of the film will be written by Padmanabha Dasgupta and Indraadip Dasgupta himself will compose the musical score. Shirsha Roy will do the cinematography. Agantuk will also feature Sujan Mukhopadhyay, Sidhu, Devlina Kumar, Damini Benny Basu and Debapratim Dasgupta.
