Jisshu Sengupta will play the father of Alia Bhatt in Mahesh Bhatt’s upcoming film Sadak 2 (2020). The Bengali actor has already been part of popular Hindi films including Barfi! (2012) and Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi (2019).
A few days ago, Pooja Bhatt shared on Instagram a post about having Sengupta on board, along with actor Makrand Deshpande, but there were rumours regarding his role in the film.
The actor cleared all confusions while speaking to a national news channel and confirmed that he would indeed be playing Alia's father in the second installment.
Sengupta is currently shooting for the film in Ooty, Tamil Nadu along with the lead actress, Alia, known for her notable performances in Highway (2014), Udta Punjab (2016), Dear Zindagi (2016), and Gully Boy (2019).
“Alia has an exceptional passion for her work, she is one of the leading stars of this generation," Sengupta told the daily newspaper Anandabazar Patrika.
Sengupta has also been roped in for an upcoming Telugu film, Ashwathama. Recently the actor was seen as a cop in Mainak Bhaumik’s thriller Bornoporichoy (2019), along with Abir Chatterjee.
