Directed by Sujeeth, Saaho has an ensemble cast of Prabhas, Shraddha Kapoor, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Jackie Shroff, Chunky Pandey, Mahesh Manjrekar and Mandira Bedi. There are high expectations from the film for two reasons.
First, it is Prabhas's first film after the landmark blockbuster Baahubali: The Conclusion (2017). It is also touted to be the biggest action film from India. The trailer of the film, which is just out, makes it clear that the film has taken action to another level as far as Indian cinema is concerned.
The makers haven’t revealed much of a story in the trailer. The story starts in Mumbai where a Rs2,000 crore theft takes place and the police have no leads. In comes Prabhas, an undercover officer, who sets off to nab the criminals. He follows the bad guys in a fictitious city where gangsters rule freely. Kapoor plays a crime branch officer helping Prabhas.
The film does have some breathtaking stunts which appear like a spectacle on the big screen. But as far as the trailer is concerned, the film’s biggest strength also acts as its weakness. There is a clear overdose of action, stunts and VFX. The fictitious city is too fictitious to be believable. We hope the film focuses more on storytelling.
Prabhas and Kapoor appear to be a good pair. It is difficult to judge their performances from the trailer since the focus is too much on the action. But Prabhas’s Hindi is a problem.
Saaho is all set for release on 30 August. Watch the trailer here and let us know if you are keen to watch the film.
