Karan Johar, Salman Khan, and SS Rajamouli lead Yahoo's 10 Most Influential Personalities in Entertainment

Kangana Ranaut might not like it, but Karan Johar has been named as the Most Influential Personality in Entertainment in a survey by Yahoo.com. The director-producer ranks ahead of star Salman Khan, and Baahubali franchise director SS Rajamouli, who are named at two and three respectively. 

The survey was conducted on the basis of 'measurable success in terms of hits and collections, visibility and standing in traditional and social media, achievements in the last 12 months, the impact they have they have made within the industry and outside', according to the website. 

While he has been influential in terms of his production, Johar had a mixed bag year with Kalank (2019) failing to hit the big marks, while Student Of The Year 2 (2019) managed a decent return. 

Interestingly, Salman Khan ranks on the second spot. While the actor's last film Bharat managed an average performance at the box office, it was panned by several critics. Following Khan is SS Rajamouli. While the director has announced a major project with Alia Bhatt and Jr NTR in RRR, his last work was Baahubali: The Conclusion (2017). 

Despite the acclaim for Gully Boy (2019), and the buzz for '83 (2020), Ranveer Singh finds himself relegated to the fourth spot in the list. The actor though will find some solace in being ahead of Rajinikanth, and his wife, Deepika Padukone. 

Surprisingly, the recent successes of Ayushmann Khurrana and Taapsee Pannu don't find a mention in the top ten. 

Padukone is ahead of Kangana Ranaut, who manages to beat out Priyanka Chopra and Shah Rukh Khan. While Ranaut and her spats with the media have earned her a spot ahead of Chopra, despite the latter's public and glamorous wedding last year to singer-actor Nick Jonas. 

Producer Ekta Kapoor manages to bring up the rearguard finishing on the 10th spot. The producer is awaiting the release of her next, Jabariya Jodi, on 9 August.
