Puri Jagannadh may team up with Yash for Jana Gana Mana

Filmmaker Puri Jagannadh, who is basking in the phenomenal success of his latest release iSmart Shankar (2019), is likely to join hands with KGF Chapter 1 (2018) star Yash for a project titled Jana Gana Mana which was originally planned with Mahesh Babu a few years ago.

If the industry grapevine is anything to go by, both Puri and Yash met recently and discussed the possibility of collaborating soon.

“They definitely met and discussed about working together. Puri has been trying to make Jana Gana Mana ever since Mahesh Babu opted out of the project after initially showing interest. It’ll be a big-budget action film,” a source close to Puri said.

There are reports that Puri is considering a sequel to Ram Pothineni-starrer iSmart Shankar, which has emerged as the biggest grosser in the filmmaker’s career.

Yash, on the other hand, is gearing up to begin shooting for KGF Chapter 2 which will follow the rise of Rocky Bhai as he takes over the goldmine.

In a recent interview to news agency IANS, Yash opened up about the second part and said that the pre-production work has been going on for months. He assured the second chapter will be bigger and grander.

“When we made KGF Chapter 1 (2018), we had our own inhibitions and restricted ourselves in some way. But with this kind of success in our side, we are going all out to make the second part. We now know people are keenly looking forward to the second part and we can deliver it without any reservations. We’ve reserved the best for Chapter 2,” he said.

The film also stars Sanjay Dutt as the antagonist. Last week, the Munna Bhai MBBS (2003) star was signed on to play a character called Adheera. Raveena Tandon is also rumoured to be playing a pivotal role.
