International actress Daisy Edgar Jones, who was supposed to make her Indian debut in SS Rajamouli’s upcoming magnum opus RRR, has opted out of the project citing family reasons.
Jones revealed the news via a post on her Instagram page. “RRR: Unfortunately due to family circumstances I am unable to participate in filming for this wonderful film. The script is truly brilliant and it’s such a great character; I hope whomever they cast receives as warm a welcome as I have and I wish the production all the best,” Jones posted.
In the film, Jones was to be paired with Jr NTR.
A tweet from the official account of RRR read: “Due to unavoidable circumstances, Daisy Edgar Jones is no longer part of our film. We hope she has a brilliant future.”
Last month, Rajamouli had said RRR would be an incredible fictional story based on the lives of two real-life heroes — Alluri Seetharama Raju and Komaram Bheem.
“This will be a fictional story on the lives of Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem. There are gaps in the lives of these freedom fighters that we don’t know about. We don’t know what happened in their lives in these years when they were away from their homes and families,” Rajamouli said.
“It is through this fictional story we would like to show what could have happened in their lives and what would have happened if they had met and bonded to fight for the same cause,” he added.
Jr. NTR and Ram Charan, two of Telugu cinema's big stars, are sharing screen space for the first time in RRR. They will be seen playing Komaram Bheem and Allu Seetharama Raju, respectively.
The film, gearing up for release on 30 July 2020, also stars Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgn and Samuthirakani in key roles.
