Shiboprosad Mukherjee and Nandita Roy recently launched the first poster of their upcoming film Konttho online. The poster features Mukherjee, who plays celebrity radio jockey Arjun, protagonist of the film, in an avatar of Bhooter Raja from Satyajit Ray’s Goopy Gyne Bagha Byne trilogy.

The look of the character in the poster and the electro larynx he holds in his hand have generated intrigue. According to the director, both the look of the character and the electro larynx have important roles to play in the film.

Konttho is based on the story of laryngeal cancer survivor and vocal artiste Bibhuti Chakraborty. The film features Paoli Dam as Mukherjee’s on-screen partner and Jaya Ahsan as a speech therapist.

As the tagline of the film says 'Sound of Silence', it promises to narrate the journey of a radio jockey who loses his voice and eventually overcomes the obstacle with therapy and an alternative mode of speaking.

The inspiring aspect of the story is that once the artiste wins over the deadly disease, he also gives training to others suffering from a similar problem.

The cinematography of Konttho has been done by Subhankar Bhar. The film is slated for release this summer.
