The highly anticipated trailer of Suriya-starrer NGK was released on Monday night. Going by the visuals, it’s certain that K Selvaraghavan has made a no-holds-barred political thriller.
The trailer opens to chants of NGK, a character called Nandha Gopala Kumaran, played by Suriya.
The film, which marks the first-time collaboration of Suriya and Selvaraghavan, looks like the rise of a man from the grassroots level to a leader in politics. The trailer also highlights the need for educated youth to join politics. It also promises plenty of action which is believed to have been shot realistically.
The project was originally supposed to hit the screens last Diwali along with Vijay’s Sarkar (2018). However, the film had to miss the Diwali release after Selvaraghavan fell ill and the shoot had to be stalled for a couple of weeks.
The shoot was finally wrapped up earlier this year. NGK, which also stars Sai Pallavi, Rakul Preet Singh, Jagapathi Babu and Bala Singh among others, is gearing up for release on 31 May.
Produced by SR Prabhu of Dream Warrior Pictures, the film has music by Yuvan Shankar Raja. The film will have a simultaneous release in Telugu as well.
Meanwhile, Suriya is on the verge of wrapping up KV Anand’s Kaappaan (2019), in which he plays a bodyguard. He has simultaneously begun work on Sudha Kongara’s Soorarai Pottru (2019), a biopic on the life of Captain GR Gopinath of Air Deccan.
