Kriti Kulhari, who was last seen playing an air force helicopter pilot in a cameo in Uri: The Surgical Strike (2019), will play a singer in her next film.
The as-yet-untitled film marks the directorial debut of Gulaal (2009) actor Raj Singh Chaudhary and is said to be a road-trip story that begins in Mumbai and ends in Ajmer, Rajasthan.
A source told Cinestaan.com, "Kirti will be seen playing Sasha, who is the lead singer of a band and someone who has lived life on her own terms and persistently questions society on its indoctrination."
In a statement, Kulhari said, "What I find really interesting about this character is that she is truly liberated, free. It's a freedom all of us seek but few are able to find. When I say free, she is free in spirit, not bound by societal norms or rules. She lives life on her own terms. I find that so exciting and amazing as it reflects who I am in real life and how I like to live. Her funda in life is live and let live. I am glad I am getting to play a character like this.”
A picture of Kulhari’s look in the film shows her crouching beside a colourful bus which features an ad of a live concert. This suggests Sasha and team could be part of a mobile band that performs in various cities.
Kulhari is currently shooting for the film in Rajasthan. The film is being produced by Anant Roongta, Famous Digital Studios Pvt Ltd and Sanjay Shetty, Opticus Inc.
Before Uri, Kulhari put in stellar performances in Pink (2016) and Indu Sarkar (2017).
