Karan Johar and Akshay Kumar are getting ready to close out 2019 with some good news. Their co-production, titled Good News, has now been shifted to 27 December from its 6 September release date.
Directed by first-time filmmaker Raj Mehta, Good News stars Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Diljit Dosanjh and Kiara Advani. The film, which revolves around surrogacy, reunites Akshay and Kareena who are working together after a decade. They acted together in Kambakkht Ishq (2009). The pairing of Dosanjh and Advani is new.

Good News is produced by Johar's Dharma Productions and Akshay's Cape of Good Films, along with Zee Studios.
The release announcement of the Salman Khan-starrer Dabangg 3 on 20 December 2019 has forced a bit of a switcheroo for the production house, Dharma Productions. They have delayed both Good News and their fantasy adventure film, Brahmastra, which will now arrive in 2020.
Last year, Johar's film, Simmba (2018), released on 28 December to great success. Directed by Rohit Shetty, the action film featured Ranveer Singh as a police officer and also featured Akshay Kumar in special cameo.
It seems the banner is looking to find the same success this year with Good News as well.
