Brahmastra postponed to summer 2020, won't clash with Dabangg 3

The news comes a day after Salman Khan announced the release date of Dabangg 3 as 20 December.

According to the latest update, the release of Brahmastra, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Amitabh Bachchan, has been postponed. The film was supposed to release on 20 December this year, but is now pushed to summer 2020. The news comes a day after Salman Khan announced the release date of Dabangg 3 as 20 December.

Brahmastra director Ayan Mukerji shared the update in an official statement. He has said that the decision has been taken as they need more time to work on the VFX of the sci-fi superhero film.

“In the past week, I have learnt that all the teams working on the movie, led by my VFX teams, need more time in order to get the VFX right, to get the sound and music right, and eventually to get the film right,” said Mukerji in the statement.

He continued, “With that in mind, we are moving away from Christmas 2019 as our goal for the release of the movie. Working towards that goal could affect the most important goal — which is to create the best possible movie experience that Brahmastra can be! Our release date is now slated for summer 2020 but we will announce this officially once we are absolutely certain of the date.”

Produced by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions, Brahmastra is a three-film franchise project. The film was earlier supposed to release on 15 August, but was then postponed to December. The film was earlier titled Dragon.
