Salman Khan's Dabangg 3 to be released in December, set to run into Brahmastra

Salman Khan released a new poster from the film with the release date set for 20 December, creating an indirect clash with the Ranbir Kapoor-Alia Bhatt-starrer, which is expected to be released on Christmas.

The third instalment of the Dabangg franchise is set to be released in theatres on 20 December. The announcement was made on social media by the makers of the film today.

This sets up an interesting clash at the box office with the Ranbir Kapoor-Alia Bhatt-starrer Brahmastra set for a Christmas release.

The cast began shooting for the film earlier this month in Indore, with Salman Khan and Sonakshi Sinha both joining the crew. The film is being directed by Prabhu Deva and produced by Salman Khan Films.

The post shared by Salman Khan features the nametag of the now popular character from the film, Chulbul Pandey.

During his recent trip to Dubai for the Da-Bangg Reloaded tour, Khan had announced that the makers were planning to release the film in December. But no date was set for the release.

With the date now being announced, the film is set for a clash, though not head-on, with the big-budget fantasy Brahmastra.

The Ayan Mukerji film was initially scheduled for an August 2019 release but got delayed by production issues.

The motion poster announcement then slotted the film for a Christmas release. Some reports have suggested the makers would seek to release the film in the weekend before Christmas. But there has been no official announcement from the makers of Brahmastra yet.

Dabangg 3 also features Kannada actor Sudeep as the main villain.

In addition to Dabangg 3, Khan has signed on for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Inshallah opposite Alia Bhatt.
