Tanishk Bagchi has upgraded Garry Sandhu's peppy Punjabi dance number to good effect with the vocals of Neha Kakkar and Sandhu.

For all her talent, Tabu has never been an actress with the most graceful dance movements. In the latest song from De De Pyaar De, the actress tries to keep up with the younger Rakul Preet Singh for the attention of Ajay Devgn. The song, 'Hauli Hauli', is a typical Punjabi dance number that has a nice rhythm that makes it memorable and hummable. The song is a remake of Sandhu's own, 'Yeah Baby', which used the Punjabi folk tune to great effect.

It is a good thing that the main dancing moves are left to Singh, with Devgn and Tabu only providing the hook steps for the routine. It is a smart way of glossing over the senior actors' inability to match steps. They do the best with what they can, while Singh delivers the sizzle in the routine. The choreography is fairly simple, sticking to the beats and the rhythm.

It is the composition of Tanishk Bagchi that stands out. The composer uses the now familiar trope of a Punjabi club house EDM mix to good effect. It is Neha Kakkar's voice that takes the lead, with Garry Sandhu's distinct tonal quality providing a nice change. Sandhu and Bagchi use the original composition and speed it up with an assortment of background instruments and vocals to make it a lot snazzier. The update does take away from the simplicity of the original, but makes it more palatable to a new audience.

The remix is not surprising as it comes from the stable of T-Series, that seems to include a remix with every album they create. However, this is a more agreeable one.

De De Pyaar De is directed by Akiv Ali, and will be released on 17 May.
