Raghava Lawrence-starrer Muni 4 [also known as Kanchana 3], the fourth installment in the hugely popular horror-comedy Kanchana franchise opened to scathing reviews last week. However, the opinion of the critics didn’t stop the film from making a killing at the box office.
In its first week worldwide, Kanchana 3 which was released in Tamil and Telugu simultaneously managed to mint over Rs100 crore.
The makers on Thursday released a special poster to celebrate the film’s achievement of minting Rs100 crore.
Cut from the same cloth as its predecessors, Kanchana 3 is centered on its protagonist Raghava, who is afraid at the mere mention of the word ghost.
However, when Kaali and Rosy (two important characters) are brutally killed; they return as ghosts and use Raghava to avenge their death.
Kanchana 3 also starred Oviya, Vedhika and Nikki Tamboli as the leading ladies. It also featured the usual suspects Kovai Sarla, Sriman and Divyadarshini who’ve been part of the franchise from the first part.
Meanwhile, Lawrence is gearing up to commence work on Hindi remake of Kanchana 2 starring Akshay Kumar.
In a recent media interaction, Lawrence said he’s thrilled about taking the Kanchana franchise to the Hindi film industry.
“It’s always been my dream to take the Kanchana franchise to Bollywood. We’ve been in talks for a few years now and I’m glad things are finally falling into place. I can’t wait to start shooting for the project,” he said.
The Hindi remake has been titled Lakshmi, and it is said to also feature Kiara Advani.
