The makers of Vijay’s upcoming Tamil film, dubbed as Thalapathy 63, have denied reports about actor Shah Rukh Khan agreeing to play a cameo in the project.
Reports about Khan's cameo in the film emerged after his recent meeting with the film’s director Atlee in Chennai a couple of weeks ago.
Khan and Atlee were spotted sitting together in an IPL match in Chennai. That morning, they even met for a brief while in Atlee’s office.
Soon after their meeting, some reports claimed that Khan is all set to star in the Hindi remake of Atlee’s Mersal (2017). So far, there’s been no official confirmation on this development.
On Wednesday, fresh reports suggested that Khan has agreed to play an extended cameo in Thalapathy 63, which features Vijay in the role of a football coach.
However, a source from the film’s unit has denied all reports.
“All these reports are entirely false. SRK is not playing a cameo in Thalapathy 63 and whether he’s doing a film with Atlee or not is something either of them has to comment on. We are gearing up for the next schedule of shoot in Delhi,” the source said.
Being produced by AGS Entertainment, the film has already been confirmed to hit the screens during Diwali this year.
The film also stars Nayanthara, Jackie Shroff, Kathir, Yogi Babu and Vivek. Daniel Balaji, usually seen playing negative roles, has also been roped in for a crucial role.
The film has music by AR Rahman. Recently, he confirmed in an interview that the yet-untitled film will be sports-based.
“I have done this genre in Hollywood but this would be the first time in south India. Atlee is a fan of my films like Lagaan (2001) and Pele (2016). He’s heard these soundtracks and he is musically very passionate. I enjoy working with such director who gets involved in music composing,” Rahman said.
