Filmmaker Ali Abbas Zafar spoke about actor Varun Dhawan joining the Eid release, Bharat (2019) for a special cameo. Earlier, Salman Khan had made a cameo in Dhawan's film Judwaa 2 (2017) and the actor is returning the favour. Khan, of course, starred in the original Judwaa (1997) directed by David Dhawan, Varun's father.

In an interview with Pinkvilla.com, Zafar revealed that, "He is a great friend and actor. We really get along and he is also very fond of Salman and Katrina [Kaif]. It was just a big party on sets when he was there."

The director didn't spoil Dhawan's cameo; he only said it was "different". Dhawan could pop up in one of the several decades of title character Bharat's journey as he grows old with an independent India from 1947.

"[When] we do the final cut, we will know how I am using the scene with Varun but it was fun. It is a very interesting scene," he shared.

Bharat (2019) also stars Katrina Kaif, Disha Patani, Sunil Grover, Nora Fatehi, Jackie Shroff, and Tabu. Zafar, Kaif and Khan last collaborated together in Tiger Zinda Hai (2017).

The period film is co-produced by Atul Agnihotri, Alvira Khan Agnihotri, Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar and Nikhil Namit and will be released on Eid, 5 June.
