Reliance Entertainment announces Hindi remake of The Girl On The Train with Parineeti Chopra 

Reliance Entertainment has announced a Hindi remake of the Tate Taylor 2016 film, The Girl On The Train, starring Emily Blunt. The film, based on Paula Hawkins's best-selling 2015 thriller novel, will feature Parineeti Chopra in the lead role. The remake will be directed by Rhibhu Dasgupta who is also helming the upcoming Netflix web-series, The Bard of Blood. 

Hollywood trade magazine, Variety, reported that production will begin filming in the UK this July. Chopra was last seen in the Akshay Kumar-starrer, Kesari (2019). 

The Hindi version will mark the first foray of Steven Spielberg's Amblin Entertainment into the Hindi film industry. The production company also made the original Hollywood version, which went on to make over $173 million worldwide. 

The film revolves around the story of a woman (Blunt) who imagines about a happy family living in a home that she passes by on her commute in the train. Things change when she spots a curious incident leading her to investigate into the happenings. 

Variety quoted Reliance Entertainment CEO, Shibashish Sarkar saying, "We’ve always prided ourselves on backing strong content and compelling cinema that caters to the new age audience and we believe this film does just that." 

The same report also quoted Amblin Entertainment's Jeff Smalls saying, "This Hindi-language adaptation of The Girl on the Train is a first for Amblin and a testament to Paula Hawkins’s incredible book and our 2016 film." 

Reliance Entertainment's lineup also includes Tushar Hiranandani's Saand Ki Aankh (2019), Kabir Khan's '83 (2020), and Rohit Shetty's Sooryavanshi (2020).
