Kannada blockbuster Mufti, which featured Shivrajkumar and Srimurali in the titular roles, is all set to be remade in Tamil with Simbu and Gautham Karthik. The yet untitled remake will be bankrolled by Studio Green, which has roped in Narthan to direct the film.
“We’re absolutely thrilled to be teaming up with STR for the first time. A mega budget action thriller starring STR and Gautham Karthik. Directed by super talented Narthan,” read a tweet by Studio Green.

The film was directed by Narthan, who has been signed to helm the remake as well. Sources from the production house have confirmed that Simbu has been signed to play the underworld boss while Gautham Karthik will reprise Srimurali’s role of a police officer.
The makers are yet to sign the rest of the cast and crew. If everything goes as planned, the regular shooting will commence from June or July.
Meanwhile, Gautham Karthik, who currently awaits the release of Devaraattam (2019), also has a film titled Chella Pillai in his kitty.
Simbu was last seen in Sundar C’s Vantha Rajavathaan Varuven (2019). He currently has Venkat Prabhu’s Manaadu in his kitty and the project is expected to go on the floors in the next few months. Kalyani Priyadarshan was recently signed as the leading lady for this project.
