In De De Pyaar De, 50-year-old Ashish (Ajay Devgn) romances 26-year-old Ayesha (Rakul Preet Singh). Written and produced by Luv Ranjan, the trailer for the film was released on Devgn's 50th birthday today.
Ashish has separated from his wife Manju (Tabu). But when he decides to visit his family to seek their blessings, a series of unfortunate and awkward instances take place. De De Pyaar De revolves around the chaos that follows once Ashish and Ayesha arrive in Manju’s house.
Ashish and Manju's grown-up kids do not approve of their father's relationship with Ayesha and the family strives to break it up. The repartee between Manju and Ayesha seems to be the core of the film. Jimmy Sheirgill's character appears to have some feelings for Manju.
Editor Akiv Ali makes his directorial debut with De De Pyaar De. The title is borrowed from the classic Kishore Kumar song from the late Prakash Mehra’s film Shaarabi (1984). De De Pyaar De has been written by Surabhi Bhatnagar, Tarun Jain and Luv Ranjan.
The film has Luv Ranjan's stamp, where casual misogyny is woven into the script and presented as a laughing matter.
Tabu has previously acted in Cheeni Kum (2007), which had her, a younger woman, in love with a much older man played by Amitabh Bachchan. That story was handled maturely. The same cannot be said about De De Pyaar De, as some of the dialogues are regressive under the garb of being funny.
De De Pyaar De will be released on 17 May. Watch the trailer below and let us know if you are keen to watch this film:
