Actor Rajinikanth, who is currently shooting for his next film Darbar with AR Murugadoss in Mumbai, is most likely to team up with veteran filmmaker KS Ravikumar or H Vinoth for his next film.
Sources close to Rajinikanth have confirmed the reports and said that the 68-year-old star has listened to stories from both Vinoth and Ravikumar. However, he is yet to take final call on who will he work with next.
Vinoth had apparently pitched a one-liner to Rajinikanth even before commencing work on the Tamil remake of Pink (2016), which he is currently helming.
Ravikumar, on the other hand, is known for his popular collaborations with Rajinikanth such as Muthu and Padayappa. He desperately wants to reunite with Rajinikanth to make up for their last debacle, Lingaa (2014).
If the industry grapevine is anything to go by, one of the two projects is most likely to be announced later this year.
At the moment, Rajinikanth is busy with Darbar. The film sees him returning as a cop character after 25 years.
The film stars Nayanthara as the leading lady. This will be her third outing with Rajinikanth after Chandramukhi (2005) and Kuselan (2008). On Wednesday, it was announced that Prateik Babbar has been signed on as the antagonist.
Anirudh Ravichander has been confirmed to compose the music, while Santosh Sivan will be the cinematographer and Sreekar Prasad will take care of the editing.
Lyca Productions is bankrolling the project. This will be their third film with Rajinikanth after 2018's Kaala and 2.0.
